Bitcoin’s History with RunesEtcher

The Runes Protocol is now live. The halving is complete. The new era of Bitcoin begins now.

You can, and should, be a part of it. With RunesEtcher, you can.

What is RunesEtcher?

RunesEtcher is an easy way to etch your Runes on Bitcoin and join the rising tide of utility and memes on the world’s premier blockchain.

Of course, maybe you just have a good idea for a meme, or you’re looking to experiment with the new protocol, and you’re just curious about how it all works. RunesTerminal has built the infrastructure for all Rune-curious apes to get started on their journey with Runes, giving smooth brains smooth entry into the most important wealth-creating movement in crypto today. Already $135 million has been collected in miner fees for Rune creation. In the first 24 hours, 73% of all Bitcoin transactions were Rune-related. To say it’s getting exciting is an understatement. Here’s how you get involved. To use RunesEtcher, you first need an Xverse wallet.

What Does Runes Etching Mean?

Etching is the name given to creating new Runes and setting properties. These are the adjustable properties that Runes have, and the key decisions you need to make when creating your very first Rune!

  • Name: We all know that tokens can live or die by their name. Runes can be between one and 28 characters long. At this stage you can create token names with 12 characters plus. Lower character names get unlocked over time (multiple years).
  • Image: Equally, all great tokens need a great image. You can set the image for your token directly in RunesEtcher.
  • Divisibility: The number of units a rune can be divided into, like how a Bitcoin can be reduced down to a single satoshi, but no further.
  • Pre-mine: the initial allocation of Runes set aside for the creator
  • Terms: When mining runes, ‘terms’ refers to how and who can mint tokens.
  • Cap: How many Runes can be minted
  • Amount: How many runes are created every time a mint transaction is processed
  • Symbol: Runes all come with custom symbols. If no symbol is applied, the default is “¤”
  • Start Height: When you etch a Rune, you can denote at which block height it will start
  • End Height: Creators can also set the blockheight when new minting of a Rune will cease.

Using RunesEtcher, you can set all these parameters to ensure your Rune is just right. Once you have calibrated the conditions for your new Rune, it’s time to mint it. Enter the Rune ID — containing the transaction index and block height — in the mint field, and you’ll have created your very first Rune!

Edicts and Cenotaphs

Etching and minting a Rune are the main steps, but there are few more to go before your very own fungible token is trading on Bitcoin. After minting, you must transfer your Rune from a transaction input to an output using UTXOs. To do this, you must pronounce an edict. An edict describes how Runes transfer from input to output, specified in the OP_RETURN. Using edicts, users can make batch transfers, airdrop Runes, and send the entire supply of a given Rune to a location.

RunesEtcher, of course, makes this process simple — guiding the user from inception to creation is several simple states. Unlike previous token models, Runes with errors (cenotaphs) are burned by Runes Protocol to encourage proper UTXO management.

RunesEtcher makes handling edicts and avoiding cenotaphs as easy as minting any other token, and the RunesTerminal infrastructure, including RunesPad and RunesBook, is on hand to help any user navigate their way to glory.

Rune as Fast as You Can!

The Rune mania is happening right now, but the real utility and real wealth-creation is still to come. If you want to join the party fast, though, RunesEtcher is the fastest, easiest and simplest route to join in the fun, backed by RunesTerminal’s nexus of expertise in the space.
